ASTRONAUT LAUNCH PARTY

EST 2018

Astronaut Launch Party, a 6 piece cluster of psychedelic musical bods hailing from the Tropical North Queensland, have been playing their space funk overdrive progressive hypergypsy punk folk rock opera in various guises for the last 20 years, becoming Astronaut Launch Party in 2018.  With musical influences from King Crimson to Bonnie Tylor, and with a genre difficult to pin down, they possibly sound a little bit like Nick Cave fronting Pink Floyd, or some sort of 60s psychedelic blues played by a 90s grunge pub band…

In 2018, after recording 2 Eps, Astronaut Launch Party went on a small tour of the UK and France, playing in pubs and village squares in Linclon, Milford Haven, London, Lyon and Saint-Didier-sur-Rochefort, where they received much love and support.  They’re pretty keen to do it again soon, with the goal of getting themselves back over there in 2020.

Meanwhile, in 2019, back in North Queensland, they’re concentrating on writing and recording new songs, and playing gigs and festivals, while continuing to explore the development of melodic dechronicisation, dynamisation and funkyisation inside their groovy space station.
